The award winning CEO of Sotira, a VC backed supply chain company tackling the $800 billion overstock problem for consumables. Sotira has received the leading awards in retail climate innovation for enabling retailers and brands to offload and monetize millions of pounds of surplus inventory in a sustainable way and thereby reduce waste. Amrita is a 776 Climate Fellow (selected as 1 of 20 out of 1600 backed by Alexis Ohanian, the Founder of Reddit). Amrita is a frequent speaker on food waste and climate at international tech conferences and summits such as TechCrunch Disrupt, Shoptalk, Reverse Logistics Association Conference, Home Delivery World, Groceryshop and HumanX. Amrita is an upcoming speaker at Manifest and Delegate Speaker at the Circular Economy Plenary at One Young World in Munich, Germany in November 2025. A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, Amrita has been recognized by and awarded grants by the State of California and Stop Waste. Amrita has spoken as an expert on air on CBS and Fox Business and has been featured in Forbes, Huffington Post, Bloomberg, Business Insider, CNBC, Reuters and Fortune for her work building Sotira and her impact in the retail and food waste sustainability space.
Biography
As Executive Chef Director of Nutrition Services for Cheney Public Schools since 2015, LJ has revolutionized K-12 dining by creating scratch-made, nutritious meals while championing sustainable practices to minimize food waste. His innovative approaches inspire students to embrace healthy, eco-conscious food choices. Beyond schools, LJ consults nationwide, collaborating with early childhood programs, the Washington Fire Chiefs Association to integrate sustainable menus into fire stations, and the Department of Defense to educate military families. As the founder of Richland Community College’s Culinary Arts Institute, he empowered future chefs to prioritize sustainability.
On the panel, LJ will share practical strategies to combat food waste, drawing on his servant leadership philosophy and culinary expertise. Using food as a universal language, he’ll challenge attendees to rethink waste through purpose-driven solutions, from community kitchens to institutional reforms, inspiring actionable change for a more sustainable future.
